The Department of Textile & Handicrafts, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, continues to strengthen its mission of empowering local artisans through comprehensive training and capacity-building initiatives. With 88 Training-cum-Production Centres spread across the state, the department provides practical skill enhancement in 14 traditional and modern trades, including weaving, tailoring, carpet making, bamboo craft, and more.
Every year, more than 886 trainees benefit from these structured programs, gaining access to hands-on training, modern tools, and expert supervision. These initiatives not only preserve the rich cultural heritage of the state but also enable artisans to build sustainable livelihoods within their communities.
To further support the craft ecosystem, the department operates 17 Sales Emporiums within Arunachal Pradesh, along with 3 Sales Outlets in Guwahati, Kolkata, and New Delhi, ensuring wider market visibility for local products. Through these efforts, the department is paving the way for stronger economic participation, improved craftsmanship, and long-term growth of indigenous handloom and handicraft traditions.
The Department remains committed to supporting artisans, promoting traditional knowledge, and expanding opportunities for the youth of Arunachal Pradesh.
