The State Department Empowering Artisans & Preserving Indigenous Crafts
The Department of Textiles & Handicrafts, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, is the state’s nodal agency responsible for the development and promotion of handloom, handicrafts, textile industry and traditional craft practices. Established in 2000, the Department supports artisans, weavers, trainees, and craft-based enterprises across the state through training, production facilities, and market-linked initiatives.

- 88 Craft Centres (training-cum-production units)
- 886 trainees trained annually across 14 trades
- 17 Sales Emporiums within the state
- 3 Sales Outlets outside the state (Guwahati, Kolkata, New Delhi)

Core Functions of the Department
Promote and preserve traditional crafts
Conduct skill development through Craft Centres
Provide stipend, raw materials, and required facilities to trainees
Support artisans and weavers through identity cards, tools, and training
Facilitate exhibitions, sales events, and market exposure
Strengthen retail and distribution networks
Implement State and Central schemes related to textiles, handloom, and handicrafts
Encourage holistic development of the sector
