The Yarn Depot provides subsidised yarn, handloom tools, and essential accessories to registered weavers, artisans, SHGs, cooperatives, and cluster groups of Arunachal Pradesh.
Supplies are supported through the National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC).
The objective is to reduce raw material cost, ensure reliable yarn availability, and strengthen handloom production across the state.
Who Can Avail the Benefits
Eligible beneficiaries include holders of a Weaver ID Card / Artisan ID Card / Pehchan Card who are:
- Registered Handloom Weavers
- Members of Handloom SHGs / Cooperatives / Producer Groups
- Recognised Handloom Clusters
- Registered artisans engaged in handloom-related activities
Benefits Available
1. Subsidised Yarn
Beneficiaries can purchase yarn at subsidised rates supported by government funding.
2. Price Subsidy (Up to 30%)
A 30% price subsidy is available on the following yarns:
- Cotton hank yarn
- Woollen yarn
- Linen yarn
- Domestic silk
- Natural-fibre blended yarn
Subsidy is provided via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the beneficiary’s bank account,
subject to approved monthly quantity limits.
Mill-Gate Price Yarns
Other yarns such as acrylic and man-made fibres are supplied at mill gate price,
meaning no additional transportation/handling cost.
Supply Mechanism
- Beneficiaries may receive up to 3 months’ requirement at a time.
Orders may be placed by submitting an indent form:
- Offline: District Textile & Handicrafts Offices or Yarn Depot
- Online: Department’s web portal
3. Transport Subsidy
Transport subsidy for yarn purchased through NHDC:
- Up to 7.5% of yarn cost (most yarns)
- Up to 10% for jute/coir
- Up to 5% for high-value yarns (e.g., silk)
Reimbursement is provided upon submission of valid transport vouchers/bills.
4. Tools & Accessories
Basic handloom tools and accessories will be made available subject to stock
and scheme provisions.
5. Local Yarn Availability
Common yarn varieties are stocked at the Yarn Depot, reducing the need for procurement from outside the state.
6. Option to Order Larger Quantities
For bulk requirements, weavers, SHGs, and cooperatives may place orders directly with suppliers/manufacturers.

Monthly Yarn Entitlement
Entitlement is determined based on:
✔ Per-loom limits
✔ A valid Weaver / Artisan ID
✔ A valid Yarn Passbook

How to Register
- Visit the District Textile & Handicrafts Office or the Yarn Depot.
- Submit the following:
- Weaver/Artisan ID proof
- Aadhaar
- Photograph
- A Yarn Passbook will be issued for purchasing subsidised yarn.
