Premium assistance for handloom workers is supported by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
1. Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY)
A life insurance scheme for weavers/workers.
About the Scheme
- Life insurance cover for death due to any cause
- Annual coverage cycle: 1 June – 31 May (renewable yearly)
- Annual Premium: ₹436
- ₹198 contributed by Ministry of Textiles (GoI)
- ₹238 auto-debited from beneficiary bank account
- Eligibility: 18–50 years
- Benefit: ₹2,00,000 to nominee

2. Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)
Accidental insurance cover for weavers/workers.
About the Scheme
- Covers accidental death & disability
- Annual Premium: ₹20 (fully paid by GoI for weavers)
- Eligibility: 18–70 years
- Benefits:
- ₹2,00,000 – accidental death or permanent total disability
- ₹1,00,000 – permanent partial disability
